As some of you may know I’m the new editor for Kids Today. I’ve come to the publication during a busy time—we’re gearing up for the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, which will quickly be followed by the JPMA in Orlando and then our annual Kids Today conference in June.
Though I’m new to the youth market I’m not new to the home furnishings industry. I’ve been the retail editor for Home Accents Today (Kids Today’s sister publication) for the last four years and before that I was the editor for the National Home Furnishings Association magazine. I’ve also worked in marketing for a furniture manufacturer and on consumer publications.
I have a vested interest in the youth market. I have a nine-(going on 16)-year-old daughter, Heidi, and a six-year-old son, Ben.
When my kids were born older relatives were amazed at all the gadgets, products, styles and designs available in infant paraphernalia; after all car seats weren’t even a requirement when I was a baby and now there are hundreds of options available. In nine short years there are even more products and designs out there and I’m excited about seeing them all and getting to know the people in this industry.
I’m eager to learn about your stores, see your new products and find out about your businesses. Let me know what’s happening in your world and what you want to see in Kids Today.
Best,
Lisa Casinger
